Portuguese action words from these songs

Every key word and phrase across the unit, with its English meaning.

Tips for parents

• Do every action together. Hearing the Portuguese word and moving to it is the whole point.
• Play freeze: stop the song and everyone freezes, then call out an action word to restart.
• Clear a little floor space first so nobody has to hold back.

Questions parents ask

Why do action songs help with a new language?

Kids show they understand by doing the move, so you can see it working without any quiz. Moving also keeps energetic children engaged for the whole song.

Which Portuguese words are in these action songs?

20 key words and phrases, including saltar (to jump), correr (to run), parar (to stop), rápido (fast), dançar (to dance), música (music), mexer (to move), comigo (with me). The full list is above, and every song page shows the complete lyrics with translation.

Are the Portuguese action songs free?

The lyrics, translations and word lists here are free to read. Playing the songs is part of Premium, which you can try free for 7 days. The first unit, greeting songs, is free forever.

How long are the songs?

Between 1:58 and 2:10 each, about 10 minutes for all 5. Short enough to replay, which is where most of the learning happens.
