Tips for parents
- Hide a toy and give clues in German: under the table, in the box.
- Ask your child to put a teddy on, in or under something as the song says.
- Use the words while tidying up: the book goes on the shelf, the ball in the box.
Questions parents ask
- Aren't prepositions too abstract for little kids?
- Not when you can see them. Putting a toy under a chair while hearing the word makes the meaning obvious, which is why these songs pair the words with a hunt.
- Which German words are in these preposition songs?
- 12 key words and phrases, including in (in), auf (on), unter (under), hinter (behind), neben (next to), Wo ist es? (where is it?), Suche (hunt), Fußspuren (footprints). The full list is above, and every song page shows the complete lyrics with translation.
- Are the German preposition songs free?
- The lyrics, translations and word lists here are free to read. Playing the songs is part of Premium, which you can try free for 7 days. The first unit, greeting songs, is free forever.
- How long are the songs?
- Between 1:59 and 2:14 each, about 4 minutes for all 2. Short enough to replay, which is where most of the learning happens.
