Tips for parents

  • Use the sentence starters for real requests: ask in Spanish at snack time and wait for a Spanish answer.
  • Celebrate every “I can” your child manages, even a half-Spanish one.
  • Swap in your child's own favourite things so the sentence becomes theirs.

Questions parents ask

Are these songs harder than the word songs?
A little: they build short sentences out of words from earlier units, so they come later in the curriculum. The sentence starters repeat a lot, which keeps them easy to sing.
Which Spanish words are in these first sentences songs?
40 key words and phrases, including me gusta (I like), no me gusta (I don't like), ¿te gusta…? (do you like…?), me encanta (I love it), el helado (ice cream), me gusta bailar (I like dancing), me gustan los perros (I like dogs), la lluvia (rain). The full list is above, and every song page shows the complete lyrics with translation.
Are the Spanish first sentences songs free?
The lyrics, translations and word lists here are free to read. Playing the songs is part of Premium, which you can try free for 7 days. The first unit, greeting songs, is free forever.
How long are the songs?
Between 2:13 and 2:50 each, about 10 minutes for all 4. Short enough to replay, which is where most of the learning happens.
